Man Who Would Be King, The (1975) IMDB rating: 8.00 Plot: ” The Man Who Would Be King” is about two ambitious ex-soldiers stationed in India who set out to become the rulers of an entire country. All goes well until Daniel’s ego and greed gets the best of him. He asks Peachy to bow when he walks in front of him. He later tells Peachy that he has decided to stay, and now believes that he is the son of Alexander ( ‘in spirit, anyways”), and that to fulfill his destiny, he will marry Roxanne, like his “father” Alexander did before him. The Kafiri’s believe that a mortal cannot marry a God, but Daniel goes ahead anyway. Peachy was set to leave with his share of the treasure, but Daniel convinced him to stay ” for old time’s sake” for the wedding. At the ceremony, Roxanne, believing that she would soon die, bites Daniel, drawing blood. The entire crowd realizes that since Danny is bleeding, that he is a man, not a God, and that he has been deceiving them the entire time. Peachy grabs Daniel and they run off with their twenty soldiers, shooting at the crowd of monks who set out to kill them. They are eventually captured, and Daniel is forced to walk out on a rope bridge. The monks cut the ropes, and Daniel bravely falls to his death. Peachy is later crucified; when they come to see him the next day, he is still alive, and they say that it is a miracle that he lived and they cut him down. He eventually climbs down into the valley and retrieves Danny’s head, still wearing the crown. He brings it back to Rudyard Kipling, a writer for the Northern Star, as proof that Daniel accomplished his goal, and became the King of Kafristan. External Hard Drive Won't Mount?
Straight to the point:

I am trying to recover files off a 3.5" IDE Hard Drive that had Windows ME installed on it. I have access to a MacBook, Windows XP Desktop PC, and a cd with Ubuntu 8.10 on it.

Attempts:

1) If I make the HD the only primary master HD it won’t boot up.

2) If I make it a slave drive it won’t boot up.

3) I purchased an external enclosure from Radio Shack which turned out to be crap and online reports supported this conclusion. I got nowhere with that thing. Bestbuy doesn’t sell 3.5" IDE enclosures.

4) By using an IDE / SATA to USB kit, I am able to connect the HD to the PC via USB cable. XP will detect the drive, however the HD will not my displayed under "My Computer" nor "Disk Management".

Onto linux (this is where I grabbed the Ubuntu cd):

5) When connected, the HD will show up under "Computer" as a "USB Drive". When I double click on it I get the error "Unable to mount location Can’t mount file".

I CAN’T SEEM TO FIND THE CD THAT CAME WITH THE ADAPTER BUT I’LL KEEP LOOKING FOR THE DRIVERS ONLINE. HOWEVER I DO RECALL READING THAT THE DRIVERS ARE ONLY NEEDED WHEN USING A WINDOWS 98 OR OLDER MACHINE. I’M CURRENTLY RUNNING XP. I’LL CHECK THE BIOS AND GET BACK TO YOU ON THAT.
THE USB ADAPTER WITH THE HS PLUGGED IN DOES NOT COME UP UNDER THE BIOS.
I MEANT TO WRITE HD* NOT HS IN MY PREVIOUS DETAIL

As far as attempt #1 + #2, there is a file called boot.ini that only allows the computer to boot from the original motherboard. You could attach the usb adapter with the HD in it to the computer, and then restart the computer. Go into the bios and look at the boot devices. It should show your HD thats in the adapter. Also, I betcha that the computer is reading the adapter, making the du-ding noise indicating that something was just inserted, but then nothing happens. If I’m right then good money says that you need to install a driver for the adapter. So, install/reinstall any cd that came with the adapter, or look online for drivers for that adapter. What is your opinion on the killings of infant children or abandoning them?
It has now become a ""routine news"" for all dailies as well as tabloids about killing of infants or abandoning them in a roadside dustbin or in railway coaches. This phenomenon is on higher rate particularly in Tamil Nadu, especially at Chennai.

On Tuesday, the 29 Dec 09, a six month old baby was found abandoned in a local train and some days back, three children were killed by their parents and one of them due to ""suspicion"" over its birth.

How do you view this?? Are there any preventive measures to sustain these kind of killing innocent children??

What are the ways and means you, the knowledgeale group, suggest to prevent this ‘Menace"???

Wow, I’m wondering, is it mostly baby girls, are they seen as less valuable. Is it economics, poor people with not a hope of being able to care for a baby, or afford protection for safe sex.
It could be also that the mothers were raped.

It’s terrible, the only way is education, money for adoption and foster centres, mother and baby homes, more money to be spent on law, investigations into the high rate of prostitution etc.
Money is the answer but there is never any money for the things that really matter, money is only ever spent on war and greed.

Mostly this happens to some female child, there are many views to this news.

1). It could be due to illegal connection and later male partner ignores both mother and baby, now the baby becomes a burden to that ill fated mother and her good heart refuses to kill the baby, so she simply abandons the baby in a dust bin or train.

2). Too much poverty is another problem, basic animal instinct in action.

3). TN is very well known for Female genocide, I am not sure what Cradle baby scheme is doing?

Suspicion is very big, it destroys the person who has it as well as people living with that person. Probably they should have gone for DNA testing.

Education about Cradle scheme should reach nooks and corners, Govt can’t do this alone, Youths like us should volunteer some time. Social service should be part of school/college curriculum and it should be mandated for everyone. Instead of giving preference to cast based employment, students with high social service record should be given priority. Same applies to election candidate, he/she will never learn/know anything about social problem without getting into social service.

Many couples who don’t have a kid, should try and adopt orphan kids. Even people with one kid can do the same. Of course they will be in tough spot to handle their old aged parents/in-laws/relatives etc.

Instead of spending money on constructing temples, it can be donated to genuine orphanage for kids. Some are already doing it. Govt should also encourage such acts with incentives to parents by offering scholarship towards the child education.

Why has my formally lovely cat become a bully?
Hi there, I have a couple of questions. I have four cats. Originally I had two, one boy, very healthy, big fat and lovely, the friendliest sweetest thing in the world. A girl (his sister), very poorly, had a genetic disease which meant she was too weak to be neutered without complications. Anyway, we went away and the person looking after her must have let her snuck out and she, to our surprise, gave birth to two kittens, which we kept because she loved them so much. Anyway – ever since these kittens have come along (6 mths old now) the boy has become HORRIBLE. He attacks them, and his sister, who he usually is lovely with, and he hisses and is stroppy, moody and sulky all the time. I miss my lovely happy boy! What can we do to change this situation?

Also, the two kittens, they scratch the hell out of us if we even attempt to pick them up. I so want lovely cuddly cats, what have we done wrong? They’re so naughty, they scratch when playing, they climb curtains, destroy things….it’s exhausting!
Hi there, thanks for your answer. The two kittens are booked in to be spayed, and the boy was done when he was six months, so thats all fine and good.

I haven’t heard of claw covers, and they were socialized as much as possible but I have to be honest, Poppy, the mum, she didn’t want us anywhere near them and would literally wail if we touched them right up until four months old, so we’ve had to do our best to have contact. We’ve played with them and they’ll come for strokes and sit on us, but they refuse to be picked up!

Second, you need to be trimming the claws on everyone on a weekly basis. Or get the SoftPaws nail caps. How much socialization did the kittens have growing up. At their age, they should be well socialized. If they are not fixed, that is probably the main reason you are having behavior problems with everyone.

First thing is first, neuter him ASAP. Make sure they’re all spayed/neutered or you wil continue to have problems. Second, give them enough space and favorite spots and things to climb up on like bins or chairs with blankets or towels on them, etc so they won’t compete as much for space and their favorite spots. Third, keep small squirt bottles of cold water handy to break up fights. Forth, keep all cats’ nails trimmed so they cannot cause as much damage to one another. Fifth, it will take time. Don’t push your cats into cuddliness. I just brought a new male cat home and it’s also like I introduced a devil tornado into the mix. The constant fighting, the squalling matches(cats like to scream even if another cat looks at them cross-eyes, you’ll notice, and the squalling volume does not always match the crime..sometimes it’s overkill) , the fur flying. I neutered him at 5 months of age. They keep me awake, they fight, everything is turned upside down when I wake up and get home. BUT…..Good news, FINALLY he is starting to calm down a little. I’m noticing it. They mellow with age. Yours will, too. They have to figure out the heirarchy, which can change, and you’ll notice your kitten is harrassing another one which is similar to his own status or that he’s waiting to figure out that cat’s status. He probably won’t mess AS MUCH with the big boss cat, but then, you really do need to neuter him and everyone else in the mix. The fighting happens usually over territory, be it a favorite spot, a toy, etc. Never yell at your cats. Use "TSHH!" in conjunction with a good squirt when they fight too hard, then hide the bottle. Little fights let happen, the little scuffles, as long as their nails are short. But the major ones, break it up with the squirt bottle. Honestly, your cats will not get along at all unless they are all spayed and neutered. then it takes time for the hormones to settle down and also for the young male to mellow with age. My newest male is now almost 1 yr, and he’s still a hurricane, but he’s settling down slightly. He’s a biter as well, and I use the squirt bottle, one quick squirt in the face if he attacks my hands or legs and bites. He’s also teething, but my job is to teach him what is appropriate behavior with me. Think Cesar Milan style. It works with cats, too. Calm pack leader is what you need to be. Practice calm, confident disposition as the pack leader. They sense when you are upset or stressed. Consistency, too. Give every cat his/her own food dishes and litter boxes. Feed 2 meals daily then pick up what’s left after 10 minutes. No free feeding. Provide lots of toys, including small furry mouse toys, scratch posts and cardboard scratch ball thing, cat toys with feathers and stuff on the end of a fihing pole, a box for your cat to play in, etc. If you cannot play with one cat because the other is taking over the play, put the one or ones you want to play with in the room with you and the others in another room while you play. Like dogs, cats will go to war if they want the same toy, and like dogs, they will try to hog all the toys for themselves.

A cat needs to sharpen its claws by stripping off the old shell to reveal a new one. Scratching at furniture is one way a cat will renew its claws. All indoor cats will do this if they have not been trained on how to use a scratching post from an early age. Show your cat how to use a scratching post, start training as soon as possible, so they will be less likely to damage a piece of your furniture. The secret is to show the cat what to do. Hold them near the post and scratch their claws on the surface. Putting Catnip in and around the scratching post will also help to encourage your cat to use it.

If you have more than one cat then you may find that the dominant cat will not use the scratching post and may need discouraging by using a spray bottle filled with water (use freah water only). This has the advantage of keeping the owner remote from the cat and the scene of the crime.

Quite simply, it involves squirting a jet of water at the cat with such force as to surprise and disconcert it, just at the time it is about to, or is actually, performing the behaviour pattern the owner wants to curb. It is very important that your cat does not associate you with the unpleasantness, as this can lead to a lack of trust, so make sure that you cannot be seen by your cat when using the spray bottle.

I just got a new Hunter Jumper horse. His name is Tucker (After the book Tuck Everlasting). I would use the show name Tuck Everlasting BUT someone took it last year!! well i always thought he was better than ronaldo and ronaldo has got the award… i think rooney contributes to the team more than ronaldo ever did… yes he scored a lot of goals did ronaldo, but when he had a bad day , united had a bad day because they relied too much on him…
rooney is some talent though, he can change a game in an instant, his skill is unbelievable. he is scoring goals for fun at the moment. he runs around the pitch for 90 minutes barely giving himself time to catch his breath just to try and win the ball back… the only thing that his game was actually lacking before was goals and now he is scoring them in bucketfulls!!!

How much should I sell my homemade cards for?
I love card making! I want to sell cards, but not printed out ones, ones I either scrap book from, quelled ones, and just a bunch of different kids of cards. I must say I have put some money into it, and have not started to sell any yet because I’m making a bunch to sell for Valentine’s day. I have bought paper, both card stock and scrap booking paper. Embellishments, buttons, little things you poke through the cards, and markers… the whole ten yards, everything. I have looked up how much I should sell my cards for, but then I see a dollar or 2? I really want to sell mine 5-7 bucks per card, I put money into them, time into them… I can spend over an hour on just one card, I can’t just sell that just for a dollar. I’m hoping to go to like a flea market, or somewhere open-like so I can sell them, is this the way to do it? I looked on E bay but I just don’t know if people would buy them, since I want at least 5 dollars per card.

I need advice, I want to know how much I should sell my cards for, I will attach a site so you may look at the quality of my cards. Please help me, if I can’t sell my cards for anything, is it a good idea to just not to…? Thanks!

Have a look around other sites see how much people who have sold items how much it was for.

Try http://etsy.com http://artfire.com Artfire is free so there are no fees at all. So you would not lose anything by putting them on there.

Only you know how much you want for the cards. There is no point in pricing yourself out of the market though.

Perhaps you need to look for another supplier where you can buy items cheaper.

Making cards would be most profitable if you are doing sets of cards. Five dollars a card is kind of pricey. Very few crafters get their ‘time’ compensated for. If you are doing it to be paid for your time, then you need a more skilled craft to sell. Most cards are do-able by anyone who wants to take the time.

If you are looking for profit, I’d try something else. There are just too many places selling scrapbooking supplies to make it very unique.
